Whether you need an attorney for a family law matter such as divorce, adoption, or modification of your existing orders or if you have been charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, or a felony offense, Mike Watkins is the right lawyer for you.  Mike began his practice in the trenches, working primarily in court appointed criminal cases.  He quickly became known as a lawyer who was willing to go to trial but could also negotiate his client's case to a resolution.  His slogan the first step to not guilty is to go to trial has often been heard in the halls of the courts buildings of the Texas Panhandle.

With the increased reputation and skill, more and more family law participants began seeking Mike's counsel for their divorce, adoption, or modification cases in Amarillo and the surrounding counties of the Texas Panhandle.  Mike has successfully fought for custody on behalf of many fathers and has sought jail sentences for people who fail to pay their child support.

Mike has represented people charged with all sorts of criminal acts, speeding tickets to murder and everywhere in between.  He has represented people charge with the ultimate punishable offense, Capital Murder, and has yet to have a client on Death Row.

To hone his skills, Mike attends over 60 hours of CLE (Continuing Legal Education) per year and maintains his position in the State Bar College.  Additionally, he has been ask to speak at multiple CLE events and has, at the request of the State Bar of Texas CLE division, written a primer for young lawyers looking to enter the area of Criminal Defense.

Mike is an active member of the State Bar Family Law Section, www.sbotfam.org; the Panhandle Family Lawyers Association; the National College of DUI Defenders, www.ncdd.com; the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, www.nacdl.com; the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, www.tcdla.com; the Panhandle Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, www.pcdla.org; Panhandle Collaborative Law Professionals, www.pclp.net; the State Bar of Texas, www.texasbar.com; and the State Bar College, www.texasbarcollege.com.
